You are lying on a comfortable bed, the scent of Sakura blooms comforting your aching body. You get up and look around for the shrine maidens. If you are lucky enough, you may even get to witness the kitsune in flesh. Surely, she can help you out. But you have heard tales of her, she is not one to be trusted blindly. You sigh, your shoulders slumping as you make your way out of the room.
To your pleasant surprise, lady Guuji is right there by the sacred Sakura tree! You rush over to her and fall on your knees, bowing your head down till your forehead touches the ground. Your pride has long left you, you only want to live. "Lady Yae! Please help me!"
"Ara? What do we have here?" She giggles mischievously,"And how exactly do you expect me to help you if you don't tell me what you need? Besides, I am not running a charity here. Don't just come here and beg me for blessings."
"Lady Yae. I have made a terrible mistake. I tried to fight the Raiden Shogun and lost. And now, she is chasing me. She will not let me live. Please save me from her. I am sure she will listen to you." You tilt your head up, looking at the gorgeous kitsune. Of course, she is in her human form as usual. Her dress does not befit a shrine maiden, but you are not on to complain. If anything, you are captivated by her seductive beauty.
"Quit staring, little one. Do you realise how impolite it is?" Yae says rather amused more than annoyed. "Is that all? But why would someone as weak as you challenge the raiden Shogun?"
"She took my friend's vision. And soon after, he lost his mind. We haven't found him ever since. I wanted revenge. But now, I know it is impossible. I have people I care about. I can not throw my life away chasing the ghosts of past. Please, lady Yae. I am sure you can understand my predicament."
"What a foolish act," she mocks you despite you being almost on the brink of tears as you tell your story. "Very well, you will have to stay here until I have convinced her though. If you step outside the shrine, don't expect me to protect you."
Despite her mocking, you are happy hearing her response. "Thank you, lady Yae. I will be forever grateful to you!" You speak once again bowing your head.
Yae Miko giggles stepping closer to you. "However, all actions must have consequences. And challenging the raiden Shogun, it's not something that should be forgiven so easily. I will spare you your life. But you must serve the shrine and by extension, all the shine maidens here. Only then, will your sins be forgiven."
You don't think too much of it. It sounds like a fair enough deal. "Sure, Lady Yae. I will do my best!"
"Really? So eager. You didn't even think for a moment," yae smirks,"The tasks you have to do, may sound humiliating at first. But that is by design so that you can feel regret. If you disobey, I will have the right to break our deal any time. Do you understand?"
Her words have you a little worried. But there is not other choice regardless. "Yes, Lady yae. Thank you once again," you get up.
"Let us get you initiated first," yae smirks looking at you.
You are still a little puzzled, what does she mean by initiation?   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
