Assessing your options, you realize that you're practically fenced in by the humans traveling along the route. Heading east would put you on a collision course with Trace and likely force you through more tall grass. Heading south would put you on a collision course with Chase and also require transit through the tall grass. Staying in place would likely mean that either Chase or the PokeMart employee would eventually cross paths with you, and going down the ledge would risk exposing you to the PokeMart employee, as well as erase any progress you've made.
The treeline to the north, however....if you head up through it, you could cut right past the curve and drastically reduce travel time. With the memories of the giantess and her army off captives fresh in your mind, you decide to prioritize avoiding human contact and you head straight for the treeline. You quickly pass between the trees, finding yourself in the relative shade of a small forested area. As you make your way forward, you can hear the sounds of numerous bird Pokemon high overhead. You think back to your encounter with the Pidgey, and shudder to think about how many more birds must be nesting high overhead.
The treeline is a bit over a dozen meters deep and several times as wide . At your tiny size, it's closer to a third of a kilometer across. A manageable distance, but the distance means you're going to be walking through here for an uncomfortable long period of time. As you survey your surroundings, you turn your head upwards. In addition to the birds, a male Aipom is currently dangling upside down by a treebranch, napping. It could be a major problem if the gigantic monkey awakens and spots you. You quickly begin to search for hiding spots
The forest floor itself, seems peaceful, but offers surprisingly few reliable hiding spots. To the west, you notice an indentation in the soil that has grown quite muddy from runoff rainwater . Although not ideal, you could likely hide among the mud to avoid detection from all but the most skilled of sleuths. Beyond that, you see only the tree-roots at the base of the various trees, as well as twigs and leaves here or there. They might provide you with some shelter, but that's shaky at best. Up north, you continue to hear the sounds of a young boy, though they are far more clear than before. "Ok Rattata, you're lookin' cool. You can return. Now....it's your turn. Come on out, Sentret. Hey, Sentret. You ready to do some training? Hey...what's up? You see somethin down there in the trees?" Sure enough, you can hear the sound of footsteps. approaching.
Visible between the trees, at the very far edge of the forest, you catch a glimpse of two figures. The first is that of a female Sentret, perched upon its tail at a horrifying 2'7. Even if one discounts the tail, you're still dealing with a creature roughly 6 times your body height with a far heftier build. Cute and shy though it may be, Sentret is an omnivore, and one with keen eyesight. It would be in your best interest to regard her with utmost caution. Right behind her, you see an even taller figure....that of a youngster.
Youngsters are a particularly prominent classification of trainers around these parts. While the league officially requires contenders to be 10 years of age before becoming Pokemon trainers, in practice many begin their journey even earlier, often as early as 7. Youngsters tend to hover in roughly that age range. Despite almost always being at the lower end of the power spectrum, most youngsters are as confident in their abilities as they are carefree. Aggressive, competitive, and with all the lack of moral restraint a small child might possess, they are nothing to be trifled with at your height. They also tend to don short shorts, almost as if by some sort of credo.
This boy is no exception. He appears to be about 7 years of age, and is clad very short bluejean shorts, sneakers, a loose-fitting sweaty white t-shit, and a blue baseball cap. He stands at about 4 feet tall, even taller than the sentret, and he doesn't even need a tail to prop himself up on. The Sentret is no doubt one of his trained Pokemon...and there's a high likelihood getting caught by the Sentret means getting delivered to her master.
As you stand there in indecision, you hear the sound of something shuffling from up above, followed by a yawn. You don't even need to look up to realize that the Aipom is waking up. You are in quite a precarious state. If you head north, the Sentret will likely spot you...if you head south, you'll be right back where you started, and if you just stand here, the Aipom will get you....
