Chapter #5King Size Parakeet by: booger There she sat, lounging on her little bed. The white cat was licking her fur as she half-dozed in the middle of her owner’s living room. As that dumb dog outside began to bark again, probably at a squirrel or a cloud or whatever other useless thing, she tuned him out.
In the kitchen, a chubby little female parakeet was chirping over and over to her rat friend who was picking through the cabinets.
“What’re you doing, friend? Looking for something?” She asked.
The rat gave her an aggravated nod and then went back to his search. She’d been throwing questions at him ever since he entered the room. He knew he was safe around that lazy cat, but he was worried that the owners of the house could return at any moment. Luckily, after a little bit more searching, he found it.
“What is that?” the friendly parakeet asked.
“Just something special,” the rat answered, looking at the big bottle of Jumbo Gro. He’d spotted it being used that morning on a sickly sunflower up in the kitchen window and he’d seen the little plant thicken and grow considerably from just a few drops. He knew he needed to experiment more. “Here,” the rat said to the parakeet, rolling it over to her cage, “I bet you’ll love this treat.”
The parakeet, not questioning it for a second, just thanked her friend and watched as he poured a few drops into her water tray. “Gee, thanks pal,” she said before gulping down the drink.
The rat and parakeet were about evenly sized, but he watched as the little bird first hiccuped and then bulged.
“Whoa, that’s some tasty stuff,” she said, oblivious to her own body.
The rat watched in amazement as the parakeet grew. And grew. And grew. She thickened up, extremely wide through the hips and chest, and her head rose up to the top of the cage. Her body filled it completely before long feathers poking out everywhere.
“This is weird,” the parakeet said, still not sure what was going on.
Then she burst out of the cage and plopped heavily onto the ground beside the rat. By the time she finished growing, she looked enormous to the little rat. She was easily as tall as the refrigerator and probably much heavier.
She finally seemed to realize what had happened when she bent over to look WAY down at her friend. “That stuff packs a kick,” she said with a stupid grin.
The rat grinned too, thinking about what he could do with this new find. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
