During the Zehm-Human War, one of the developments that helped turn the tide was the creation of giant mechas. It wouldn't be long before they became an integral part of Earth's defense forces. They started out as bulky and nearly impractical machines, but after developing new neural and ai assisted controls, mechas became very powerful machines of war. To enhance the connections between the mechas and the pilots, they also became more humanoid in shape, and since females turned out to have better connections to Mecha controls, mechas in turn became more feminine in design and look. Their ai assitants also became more advanced (despite skepticism over it) and soon became sentient in their own right and being able to control the mechas themselves to a limited degree.
