"What kind of gem is this?" she wondered aloud to herself while examining its structure. "I've never seen anything like it before." It somewhat resembled an amethyst, but seemed to have a complex internal structure, a myriad of colors reflecting inside of it, almost as though it was sparkling.
Twilight felt a twinge of frustration at her inability to identify it. She thought her geological knowlege was pretty good, after all, but perhaps she needed help. She could keep browsing the library, but she also knew that Rarity was pretty apt at identifying gems. She could also talk to Sunset Shimmer, in case there was some sort of magic involved. Starlight Glimmer might also be of help too...
