Gemma walked into Kwik Save that morning as she had been doing since she got a job there, the heels of her stylish pumps clicking on the floor as she went. Her hair looked immaculate as always, her expensive perfume practically leaving trails in the air behind her. Her designer skirt suit hugged her perfect curves and her perky breasts bounced in her bra with each step she took. Yet, despite her appearance, she looked... concerned.
"Morning luv." Donna greeted her with a warm smile, to which Gemma managed to force a little smile back before making her way upstairs to the office Elizabeth had presented her with some months back. Small, compared to the office that the store manager shared with Donna, it nonetheless sufficed. Putting her purse down, Gemma let her jacket slide off her arms behind her before she hung it on the back of her chair. She had felt uneasy all morning, as though she could sense an approaching 'storm', but she kept shrugging it off.
As she sat down, she tried to think of the last time she had felt like this. Of course, how could she forget? The year 1884, just after her 32nd birthday, she lived in London at the time, and things were of course drastically different than they were now. She had been known as Clara Louise Bennett back then, lone daughter of a wealthy family, and she was a dabbler in witchcraft. Her 'hobby' had led her to an encounter with a couple of demons, one male and one female. A smile appeared on Gemma's face when she remembered how she had been given the gift of eternal beauty by the demons, and how she had then broken the pact struck with them and banished them. She knew such a thing was dangerous, but she knew that as part of the pact, the demons also vowed never to harm her.
Sure, cheating demons was foolish, but Gemma was sure she was immune from their wrath. And she had managed to stay hidden from them ever since, changing locations and changing her name several times as time progressed around her. All other humans grew old and died around her while she remained forever young. And now here she was, a HR administrator in Kwik Save, and she was known as Gemma Brown. As she drew some paperwork close to her on her desk, she bit her lip and her mind started wandering again as the feeling of unease continued to wash over her. Had they found her? She exhaled deeply.
So what if they had. She was safe, since she knew demons would never violate the pact that she had violated herself 139 years ago. She tried ignoring the voice in the back of her mind and concentrated on her usual duties.
