The showrunners for the Abramsverse version of Star Trek had made a decision that was sure to drive the fanboys nuts. Rather than recast the role of Pavel Chekov, they created a new character and cast Margot Robbie in the new role.

Part of the movie was going to be loosely based on the original Star Trek episode “The Galileo Seven.” You were going to play one of the giant hominids the shuttlecraft crew encounters. Rather than just flashes and suggestions of the giant hominids, like were seen in the original episode, the shuttle crew was going to have extended interactions with at least one of the giants, with that giant being played by you.
