Aiden handed Elliot a sixth chocolate bar. The boy groaned but accepted the candy anyway. He peeled off the foil and took a couple healthy bites from the bar. The rest of the members of the Club were watching an episode of Rounding Roovers on Nathan’s laptop, a cartoon they all watched growing up. In this episode one of the characters (a beefy doberman) was trying to gain a ton of weight in order to compete in a sumo wrestling contest. Elliot, however, was not paying much attention. He was focused on getting the last chocolate bar into his already overtaxed tummy.
For the last two weeks, the Club met after school in Room 399. There, they would talk about fat and gaining weight and their own weight goals in the future. Sometimes, they would bring in a movie or television show that focused on a character getting fat to enjoy together. But for each meeting, one member of the Club was tasked with getting a heavily caloric snack for Elliot. Today, it was Aiden and he brought a half dozen chocolate bars for the boy.
They ate lunch together most days. Anything uneaten went to Elliot.
Sometimes, if Elliot passed another Club member in the hallway in between classes, they would treat him to something from one of the school’s vending machines.
Each school day, Elliot would waddle home with a very full belly. After greeting his parents, he would lie in bed until his stomach digested all the treats inside it. This would make just enough room for dinner. The poor boy, now at this point ready to burst, would slowly make his way back upstairs, quickly do his homework, and pass out for the day.
With all that extra snacking, Elliot’s weight was skyrocketing. In just two weeks, the boy had packed on twelve pounds, nearly a pound per day. Each new pound formed a spourting tummy on him, stretching out his t-shirts and making him look a few months pregnant. His belly button always caused a dent in his shirt, and that was a frequent target of playful pokes from other Club members.
Nathan was shocked to hear how fast he was growing. “12 pounds already?! You’ll be like…a few hundred pounds fatter before summer vacation!” he declared during today’s meeting.
When the show ended, Nathan closed his laptop. “So, Halloween is coming up…and I had an idea…”
“Please don’t say group costumes…” groaned Alex.
“But I like group costumes! They can be so creative!” Katie retorted.
“No, well, maybe. I don’t know about that. But what I was getting at is Trick-or-Treating! We’ll get so much candy if all five of us go!” Nathan said, brushing back a lock of blonde hair behind his ear.
“Aren’t we getting too old for that?” Aiden asked.
“I think we are good for one more year! Besides, I doubt anyone will turn us away for being a year or two too old for Trick-or-Treating!” the Club “president” said.
“..and the candy?” Elliot said, already knowing the answer.
Nathan smirked. “All for you! Imagine gobbling down five pillow cases full of candy! That alone will make you go up a few pant sizes!”
Alex rolled his eyes. “We aren’t tiny kids anymore with no money. If we really wanted candy to plump Elliot here, we can just pool our money together and buy some!”
“But it’s FREE candy!” said Katie. “Why not get that AND buy some for Elliot?”
“...that’s a lot of candy…” moaned Elliot.
“Alex and I were planning on staying in and watching scary movies anyway,” Aiden said. “Mom and Dad are going to be at a party all night, so we got the place to ourselves. You all can come over and hang out with us!”
“I…hate scary movies…” whined Nathan.
“But…will there be food?” Elliot asked.
“Yes, there will be food, Tubby!” Aiden replied.
“So we have our options, huh? Trick-or-Treating, or watching scary movies?” Alex said. “Let’s take a vote! All for Trick-or-Treating?”
Nathan and Katie raised their hands.
“And for scary movies?” The twins raised their hands.
“Uh, Elliot? You forgot to vote!” Katie chirped. “And it looks like you're the tie-breaker!”
