Kyle’s former boss and a man wearing an expensive suit came into the room, wearing gloves and hospital masks. “Kyle,” Kyle’s boss greeted. “It’s so good to see you; we’ve been worried.
Kyle smiled (unaware of how cute it made him). “It didn’t seem that way, Mark.”
“Why, of course,” Mark claimed. “We’ve been unable to return your calls because we just wanted to check with legal. You didn’t think we would let a gem like you slip away, did you?”
“I did.”
“Well, there you go; this whole firing was just a big misunderstanding.” Mark gestured to the man with the suit. “Can you sign a little piece of paper that Mr. Hamilton has to ensure everyone knows?”
“What’s in it for me, Mark?” Kyle inquired.
“I told you it wouldn’t work, Mr. Thompson.” The man in the briefcase spoke as he opened the case and pulled out a sheet of papers, and presented it to Kyle. “Mr… Mrs…” The man stammered. “Kyle Jones, my client Mr. Mark Thompson is requesting that you go on record and say that Thompson Advertising is handling your unique situation with the utmost respect and dignity.”
“I’m still not hearing,” Kyle noted. “What’s in this for me.”
The man chuckled, “You’re beginning to remind me of my niece.” The man pulled out a second set of papers. “This explains my client’s proposition; you will be given a generous sum of money each month, and all of your medical bills for anything involving the E-Reverse virus will be covered completely by Thompson Advertising, provided you agree not to mention the company in any media or take any legal action.”
Kyle held the offer away from his body in disgust. “This isn’t what I want!” He yelled, “I want to go back to work!”
“Kyle Rogers.” The man retorted. “This is a good deal you’re being offered. Don’t you at least want to consider it first?”
“No,” Kyle replied. “I want my job back, or I’m taking this to court!”
“Dam-it, Rogers!” Mark spoke up. “Don’t you at least want to talk this over with your wife?”
“No!” Kyle spat back, “This is about me!”
“What if,” The lawyer chimed in. “You agree not to take legal action until Mr. Thompson and I consider your position.”
“I’m willing to accept that.” Mark agreed. “But it means my first offer is out the window.”
