Chapter #5

Crowns from Far and Wide

The Jade Empire
3 mile tall Albino Peacock

The Jade Empire is a massive, distant nation east of Uther’s lands. The current emperor is a tortoise who has ruled for over a century, but has become paranoid about his own mortality. His growing obsession with finding a cure to his own death has led him to ordering the invasions of neighboring nations to ransack them for any seemingly magical artifacts that could extend his life, so far to no avail.

The emperor has recently learned of a rumor of a magical sword that could grant him his wish. He has chosen to send one of his most trusted and esteemed commanders to retrieve it, General Tao, whose prowess in combat is exceeded only by his thirst for glory.

However, the monastic Order of the Dragon has been strongly opposed to the empire’s recent actions, and as the emperor refuses to listen they have chosen to send a handful of their master warriors to halt the General’s unprovoked invasion.

The Bronze Horde
3.5 mile tall Falcon

A semi-nomadic tribe composed mainly of falcons, the bronze horde was among the first to fall to the Jade Empire’s sudden senseless aggressive. One of the many daughters of the late Khan, Khojia Khan, filled with rage over being attacked and driven out of their ancestral homeland, formed a warband that began trailing General Tao’s forces to seek revenge.

This led her to the vast, empty prairies that made up the borderlands of Uther’s domain. Needing a new home, they quickly settled these lands, and having already tasted bitter defeat and exodus, are prepared to viciously defend their newfound home against any and all would-be invaders.

The Merchant Alliance
2 mile tall Raven, 4 mile tall Pelican

The Merchant Alliance’s many ports have granted it incomparable wealth and prosperity. A plutocracy inhabited by avians and ruled over by a council of company dynasties called Trade Houses, who are currently interested in a large swath of unclaimed land that is purportedly housing massive gold deposits.

They have delegated the task of setting up operations there to the famed raven explorer/adventurer/mercenary Isabella de la Dorada, whom as always has her loyal pelican assistant/servant/bodyguard Gil at her side, as well as a team of prospectors and hired guard.

Should she succeed, Isabella has been promised a respectable cut of the mined gold as well as her very own Trade House.

Kingdom of the Golden Sands
200ft tall Cat

A kingdom that has found prosperity in the vast, hot and dry deserts of the south, it’s many awe-inspiring monuments built on the backs of countless reptile slaves forced to toil endlessly for their cat masters. The Pharaoh has received word of a land with rich deposits of gold and only humans as "defenders", and has promptly began plans for invasion, which would be an easy victory if not for one small detail...

The princess: Ankha(not to be confused with the one in the modern day, but an ancient ancestor who she is named after). The epitome of spoiled and haughty, she has demanded that her mother let her lead this assault in order to reap the fame and glory, something the Pharaoh only allowed as long as several skilled advisors accompanied her. A fool’s insurance, most would say behind her back, as young Ankha has never been one to listen to her “lessers”(aka anyone)
