Chapter #7

Happy, Happy Aaron

    by: Kilbil Author IconMail Icon
Meanwhile, as Andrew was busy making his way up the massive naval, Aaron was watching the clouds as they passed by, lying almost lackadaisically in the middle of the massive, open forest that had been sectioned off just for him, right next to an active military base that was monitoring his every breath. Aaron blew, and the clouds immediately dispersed, tearing themselves apart into thin ribbons. A few of the disparate puffs even started swirling around his nipples, forming a faint white ring around them.

The 10-year-old hummed mirthfully, pleased with his handiwork. He had once heard something from Larry about how giants didn't live that great of a life as it may first seem. Apparently, they kept on complaining about not having enough food or clothes to keep them warm, or not being able to find shelter or companionship or some other dumb weepy crap. Personally, Aaron had never come across any giant remotely like that, and even if he did, he'd have no idea what that bozo was talking about: being a giant was the best thing to ever happen to him!

Shelter? Not a problem! As the biggest kid around, the whole world was his shelter! Rain, snow, or shine, he didn't care - most of the time, the massive thunderclouds that would bring only covered portions of his body at a time, providing him with some nice bits of cool amidst the heat from the sun. Even when the clouds got expansive enough to cover the whole sky, it was never a problem to him: the rain never felt like anything more than a pleasant drizzle, the snow simply melted off of him due to his body heat, and hail... hail was nothing! Even the occasional lightning strikes, as much as they singed his skin, never bothered him all that much. This mean that he could sleep wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted, at least so long as he was a considerable distance away from any nearby civilization.

(Which only made sense to him: of course he needed the space, he was a big guy. A big guy that just so happened to take up as much space as a small city.)

Clothes? Didn't need them! At first being completely naked was kind of embarrassing... ok, it was REALLY embarrassing, and it didn't help at all that there were always these tiny paparazzi buzzards that started swarming him everywhere the moment he passed 1000 feet. But that was all in the past now; he'd grown so big that it was completely impossible for him to see them even if he wanted to. Heck, he couldn't see anybody, not even a good hunk of giants. As far as he was concerned, that meant that there was effectively no one around to see him, and thus no reason to feel any shame in having his private parts exposed to the world. The minute that realization had set in, life became way easier for him.

Food? Well ok, maybe they did have a point there. It was infinitely worse in his case, though, cause at least other giants could just scoop up a whole bunch of livestock and go to town with them. He'd be lucky if all the cows in the entire state were enough to register as a meal to him. Because of that, he had no choice but to wait for up to a week and a half just to get some gruel delivered to him in a gigantic hole retrofitted from an old diamond mine. Tearing out bits of the countryside and munching on them did help with the cravings, but it wasn't anywhere near what he was used to. He did hear something a few years back, before his own ascension, about how there were a bunch of researchers in universities and biotech companies all over the country that were looking into isolating whatever mutant gene was causing the sudden growth spurts. Apparently, they had been planning to inject it into other animals and see if they would end up growing as well, in the hopes that it would serve to address the giants' nutritional needs. If that was the case, then they should hurry it up already! He was starving for a good burger right about now! Maybe if he went to one of those places and gave them a little persuasion, those slackers would get on to faster. He'd have to deal with the military first if he wanted to do that, though, but he had his ways.

Whatever, the point was, Aaron never wanted to go back to the same old pipsqueak that he was ever again. No more being pushed around; he was a living mountain now. He could go wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted, and there was nothing anyone could do to stop him. He didn't have to sit through another boring lecture by some slack-jawed teacher with a screechy voice, or chock down some brown sludge that mom prepared in the name of "eating healthy". He was above all of that, literally, and by leagues far beyond what anyone in history had achieved! All of those cities he'd been to on field trips, which seemed so huge to him before, were like placemats to him, the skyscrapers not even reaching up to his toenail, which was crazy to him! He never, ever expected that he would become this much of a big deal and boy, did it feel good knowing just how important he was, how much power he had and exerted without even thinking about it!

It didn't matter what it was: anything he wanted, he could just get, simple as that. Food, water, all of those were handed right to him. Anything more than that, the answer was even easier: he just made it himself. With his bare hands, he'd dug a massive trench out of the hard, rocky soil of Lewis County, Washington, one that he used as his bathtub whenever he needed to be washed down. He'd even made sure to burrow some tunnels on the sides using his fingers so that the water could drain out faster, which was helped along by the sediment. All of this manpower, all of these resources that would normally take years just to get off the ground, and he was able to do it in a few minutes after the thought occurred to him the night before.

In hindsight, he could have just gone over to the Cascade Mountains and washed himself using one of the freshwater lakes, like Walupt or Packwood, but c'mon! He didn't want to contaminate them with his filthy soles! It would ruin the view from above whenever he decided to visit!

And he wasn't even done growing! Every day, he could feel his muscles pulling against each other, his bones cracking as he kept on reaching even higher heights than before. He could physically feel his body burrowing through more acres every time he laid down, the prickling sensation of tress snapping against his skin almost being additive. Right now, he was halfway tempted to just stay here for the rest of the early morning, lying as smug as a rug as he felt the trees being mulched away by his bottom like so many blades of grass to a lawnmower. It wasn't like anyone could stop him. Not a single weapon or machine the governments of the world had could even dream of moving him by themselves - they had to hope that he did it for them!

Which, of course, he did, whenever there was a nearby town that he was at risk of turning into a pancake. He wasn't some monster: he still cared about little guys, after all he was once little, and his friends were still little. It's just, well, he couldn't help it when his pinkie toe could single-handedly take down a school district. Anyone would keep their distance from that.

Up to and including his friends, apparently.

They been with him through thick and thin when he was first adjusting to his ever-increasing sizes, but ever since he started reaching up to the clouds, he hadn't gotten a single notification from the army guys of them coming to visit. They didn't even come over to say hi! It was almost like they were... afraid of him.

But they didn't seem to have a problem with him when Darren, the 100-foot-tall blond, only reached up to his shin.

But then how else was he supposed to explain why he only had his brother here with him?

But that didn't make sense either! He hadn't changed a bit! He was still Aaron; he was still the same lovable kid that they knew. He hadn't changed at all in that regard, so what made things so different now?

...maybe the fact that he couldn't go near a town without destroying it with aftershocks had something to do with that.

Oh well. He had plenty of time to learn how to contain his overwhelming power. They'd come around once they saw that there was nothing to worry about. Once he finally stopped growing, once everything was fully set up, then he'd show he was still the same Aaron they knew, just way, way bigger. Things would be just like before, only now, they could do anything.

For now, though, he couldn't wait to see how big he got. Maybe he'd get to the point where people would start comparing him to Mount Everest! Man, he could already imagine the looks on his bullies faces when they realized that their little midget target could wipe them out with an eyelash! Maybe he'd spit on where they lived, just to see them struggle futilely as they attempted not to drown in the ocean of saliva where their homes once were.

Speaking of, was his brother awake right now? He wasn't sure, honestly; he'd become an invisible dot just like everyone else, so he had no other choice but to wait here like a bump on a log. He'd poke at the outside of his belly button, but he didn't want to risk turning him into a little red stain. As usual, there would be a helicopter to come pick him up, and like always, that helicopter was gonna take Andrew down to the army, where they would sound out an extremely loud alarm, loud enough that Aaron could hear, so that he could get up without any issue.

Geez. The things he did for his family. Honestly, Andrew was lucky that Aaron wanted to have him around, even if he had no idea where he was or what he was doing on his body. It made him feel... nostalgic.

Regardless, there was no time for Aaron to reminisce. As soon as he got the signal from Andrew, he would...
