Knowing that he had no choice but go out and get some other clothes for the next couple days, Josh agreed and met her at the door. He felt so intimidated standing next to her now and couldn't remember the last time that he was shorter than his Mom. "I don't have a jacket for you, but you should be able to wear Lilly's for right now and we'll pick one up for you while we're out." She suggested as she pulled out a purple Columbia fleece zip up jacket.
Looking at the jacket, he shrugged as he grabbed it to put it on. 'At least it isn't pink.' He thought to himself while putting it on. "So when is the party?" He asked, still not used to Chloe's voice.
Thinking for a moment, Kim pulled out her phone. "It looks like tomorrow morning. Goodness, I didn't think it was going to be so soon." She sighed as they started to make their way to the car. "I totally forgot that it was tomorrow and we will need to get her a gift too." She suggested as she opened the back door for Josh to get in.
"Why can't I sit in the front seat?" He asked seemingly starting to sulk at not getting his way.
Not really ready to deal with this, Kim quickly popped the trunk and grabbed one of the booster seats that she usually keeps for when she picks up her niece or her fiance's kids. With little to no effort, she picked up her son and placed him in the seat. "You're too young to be sitting in the front seat and we really need to get going before the snow falls down even more." Expertly, she grabbed the seat belt and buckled him into place, leaving Josh stunned at how fast everything seemed to be going.
Watching his Mom getting into the driver seat, Josh started to worry about what his sisters were going to think seeing him like this. "So what about Courtney and Bri?"
Backing out of the driveway, Kim looked into the rear view mirror to see her niece with blonde hair. "Well, Courtney has been wanting to go shopping with her Aunt Ashley for awhile and your cousins have been wanting to have Bri over too. So I'm not really expecting them back around until Thanksgiving and that way we will have the place to ourselves until you're able to change back in a couple days." Thinking that this was a sound idea, Josh just nodded his head.
It really didn't take too long for them to get to where they were needing to go and Josh was certainly ready to get out of the car but was amazed at how his legs weren't hitting the floor. Seeing that his Mom had parked the car, Josh eagerly undid his seat belt and opened the door to get out, but as he jumped down, he felt his feet slip from under him and fell on his butt. "Are you okay, sweetie?" A familiar voice called out, looking up, Josh saw Lynn Marshal quickly bending over to help him up. "You really need to be careful getting out of the car especially with the ice in the parking lot." Giving him a quick look over, Lynn brushed off his clothes. "Awe, looks like you ripped your tights."
"Jo..." Kim started, but caught herself at seeing Jenn's Mom unknowingly standing over him. Thinking quickly, Kim thought of a name to call him. "Charlotte are you alright?" She asked with a concerned tone. Perplexed at her name choice, Josh nodded his head. "Oh hey Lynn." Kim replied with faux surprise.
Looking up, Lynn did a second glance to register Kim's face. "Kim." Looking around to see if she could see her daughters or her future son-in-law. "Where is everyone and who is this little one?" She asked while caressing Josh's face.
Thinking quickly, Josh thought of what his cousin would do. "Auntie Kim." Josh replied while looking down at his legs to see the ripped tights. "I accidentally ripped my tights."
Shocked that her son was calling her what her nieces called her, Kim played along. Kneeling down next to Josh, she carefully looked at his torn tights that he was wearing and wore a concerned look on her face. "Well, I think we need to take care of that don't you, Charlotte?" Hearing this name again, Josh was wondering where it came from. But ultimately he nodded his head. "This is my niece, Charlotte and thanks for helping her Lynn." Kim replied with a smile as she picked up her diminutive son.
Waving it off as nothing, Lynn got up without a problem but turned for a moment. "Kim, do you know when Josh will be available this upcoming week?" She asked, which caught both Josh and Kim off-guard. "My family will be coming up from North Carolina and I want them to meet him. That's all." She chuckled
Kim thought about what to say and subconsciously looked at Josh in her arms for an answer. Before she was able to give a round about answer, Josh quickly piped up. "I think he will be able to come over in a few days."
Surprised at the young girl being so assertive, Lynn couldn't help but chuckle. "You know, with that assertiveness you've got, Charlotte was it?" She asked, but like the masterful attorney that she was, didn't wait for an answer. "With that assertiveness of yours, you would be a great lawyer." She playfully poked his nose before looking back at Kim. "If you see him, can you tell Josh to either call or text Jenn so that we can plan it out?"
Nodding her head, Kim waved her good bye as they started to make their way inside where it was warm. Looking around to see if it was safe and Lynn wasn't near by, Kim looked over at her son. "That was close, but you did really good getting into character." She complimented him as she put him back down.
"Thank you." Josh replied back with a smile as he took a small bow. "You said that I couldn't act." Remembering back when he had to play a sheep in the 3rd grade and he just stood there when he was supposed to help guide another class mate to the wizard so that she could go home. "Oh, by the way, where did that name come from?" He asked while going into the warm foyer of the building and stomped his feet a couple times to get rid of any residual snow that had accumulated on his shoes and to keep them from causing him to slip on the linoleum flooring.
Hearing his Mom coming in after him, he waited for her to get ready to go. Looking around to see if there was anyone else around that couple possibly overhear their conversation, Kim glanced over at Josh. "Well, it was what I was going to name you if you were a girl since it was my Grandmother's name. However, one of my cousins took it before Courtney was born and I didn't want to use it since it would seem petty." Opening the door to the mall, Kim gestured Josh to head inside so that they could get this started. "Do you want to go eat first or should we go ahead and get the shopping done first?"
