Garrus blinked a few times as he woke to get the sleep out of his eyes, looking over at a peacefully sleeping Shepard, thankfully not seeming to have any nightmares; She hadn't had any in a while, to his knowledge. He couldn't help but stare as she slept next to him, listening to her breathing, watching her inhale and exhale.
She looked beautiful, like always. Even if her hair needed brushed a little.
He's gentle when he gets out of bed, doing his best not to wake her up while doing so. He wanted to try cooking for her while she was asleep. She earned the right to relax, far as he was concerned.
As he began to leave the bedroom of the apartment, he can't help but glance over to one of the pictures they had hung up; One of their wedding photos. She looked happier then she'd ever been in her life, and you could barely make out the tears of joy in her eyes. Course, he couldn't help but look back over at Shepard; There was a difference between the Shepard in that picture and the Shepard in bed.
She had gotten visibly softer. Not enormously so, but it was certainly noticeable when he cuddled her at night. Whenever they hugged or whenever she leaned onto him. Plump was the perfect word to describe her, with the weight mostly going to her stomach and thighs.
He heads down to the kitchen, looking through what they had and attempting to decide what to make for breakfast. Moreso for her than himself, really.
To be truthful, he liked that she had softened. It meant that she had been relaxing and enjoying herself. And she looked happy these days, certainly happier then how she was when dealing with the Reapers and everything surrounding that war.
'She deserves to rest, after everything' was what he thought, as he decided to try preparing a couple cheeseburgers for her; He'd been cooking a good bit these days. Trying to make different things for her and whatnot. He remembers a time where she tried to cook, and chuckles at the memory; They ended up ordering take-out cause of how badly the meal had turned out.
'It's just a little weight. She still looks beautiful. Maybe even a bit moreso. ...Don't know if I should tell her that.' He thinks to himself, as he finishes up the meal; Two cheeseburgers for her, with some lettuce atop the cheese as well. He decided he'd cook something for himself after giving them to her.
When he comes back upstairs, the cheeseburgers on a tray, he comes into the room to see Shepard sitting up, gently smiling when she sees him. "Did you expect me not to wake up while smelling your cooking?" She asks teasingly. "Well, I was hoping to surprise you." He admits, bringing over the tray. "I can pretend to still be asleep if it'd make you feel better."
"And risk you falling back asleep?" He chuckles, sitting down next to her as he put the tray in her lap.
She picks up one of the cheeseburgers, taking a bite "Mm... you really should add Professional Chef onto your list of titles." She says once she swallows it down.
"Alongside Archangel, , and Husband to Commander Shepard?"
She laughs a little at that "Well, it's not as impressive as those..."
He can't help but smile, reaching over with one of his hands and moving some of her hair aside as she takes another bite. That's when he notices her glancing down at herself; At her stomach, barely sticking out and not at all really taking up space on her lap, but noticeable enough to Shepard at least. "Something wrong?" He asks.
"No, just... well..."
"Sweetie. Tell me."
"...I've gained weight." She says. "And I don't know how to feel about it. It's not... upsetting to me or anything, it's just... not something I'm used to." She admits.
"Well..." He wraps an arm around her, gently leaning her over onto himself. He can feel her softness slightly squishing against him, a bit of warmth emanating from her body. "What do you want to do about it?"
"I don't know. Like I said, I'm just not used to it."
She sets the cheeseburger down now, looking up at him.
"Garrus, be honest with me. What do you think? How do you feel about my weight?"
Garrus admits he thinks it looks good on her
He's gotten quite confident and comfortable with Shepard. He decides being honest would be best.
Garrus gets nervous
Admitting to the love of his life he likes her soft? Plump? What if she feels insulted? Maybe he can dodge the question.
