Pauline Castella knew she was destined for great things. Ever since she was a child she had an aptitude for elemental magic rarely seen in the world. She had been flinging flames from her fingertips since she was 4 years old, and had only continued to become more powerful and skilled with time.
This devotion to spellcraft above all else meant that she never really fit in with others that well. She felt that playing with the other kids was a waste of time that could be spent developing her talents, leading them to alienate her in turn. And with adults she fared little better. With a shriek, Pauline threw herself off her bed, narrowly avoiding the beast’s attack! As the beast tore into her bedding, her heart hammered in her chest. Like everyone, she had known that monsters and evil forces were on the rise, but she never expected them to ambush her in the middle of the night. The fear was extra-heightened as she was only wearing her pajamas at the time, which was rather light. More specifically, she was currently wearing-
