This choice: Jake decides to put the ring on • Go Back...Chapter #6Jake decides to put the ring on by: frost_kitty “Ok, so how do I use it?” Jake asked with mild curiosity.
“Just put the ring on and see what happens!!” Olivia said excitedly jumping up and down.
Jake took the ring in his hands and examined it a bit, it was a fairly nondescript gold ring with some markings on the side. Interestingly enough, it seemed to be the perfect size for his finger. “Is it going to turn me invisible like Frodo?” He mused aloud as he began to slide the ring on his finger.
“Something even cooler,” Olivia said, barely being able to hold her excitement in.
“Maybe it’ll…” Jake started but was abruptly caught off guard as his vision turned white and he felt himself unable to breath. He felt a yanking sensation almost as if he’d been pulled off the floor and across the room.
After a few seconds of overwhelming dizziness, his vision began to return. He seemed closer to the ground, had he fallen over? No, that didn’t seem right. He then noticed Olivia’s feet come into focus, small, barefoot, and with chipped pink nail polish adorning the toes. Something was different though, Olivia’s feet were exactly where his feet should go.
Concentrating at clearing his mind, he tried to wiggle his toes. To his shock, Olivia’s toes wiggled back. He could feel the cool ground beneath them. His eyes slowly travelled from his feet to his legs, slender and bare, followed by a pair of denim shorts with frayed edges. Next he saw a small, pink t-shirt with a sparkly unicorn print.
“Holy Shit,” he thought to himself, “I’m..”
“WHOAA!!, THIS IS AMAZING” a booming male voice from across the room interrupted Jake’s train of thought.
It was a voice that sound startlingly similar to his own.
Jake's gaze shifted from his own transformed body to the source of the voice. Standing there, where he had been just moments ago, was himself—or rather, what he now assumed to be Olivia in his body. She was flexing his muscles, marveling at the new form.
"Olivia?" Jake asked, his voice coming out soft and high-pitched, a stark contrast to the deep timbre he was used to. He could feel the vibrations in his chest, the sensation alien and unfamiliar.
Olivia, in Jake's body, looked down at him, her eyes—his eyes—wide with excitement. "Jake! This is so cool! Chloe was right, the magic did work!” She laughed, running a hand through his dark, messy hair, a gesture that Jake often did himself.
Jake looked down at his new body, taking in the smooth, fair skin, the small hands, and the petite frame. The long hair tickling the back of his neck. He could feel the weight of his new form, the lightness and the delicate balance. He wiggled his toes again, the sensation both familiar and foreign. He could feel the coolness of the floor beneath him, the rough texture of the carpet against his soles.
Jake took a deep breath, still trying to adjust to the unfamiliar sensation of his new lungs. "Olivia," he said, his voice soft and slightly trembling. "I think we should swap back now. This is a bit too weird for me.”
Olivia, in Jake's body, turned to look at him, a playful pout on her face. "Aww, come on, Jake! We just swapped. Let's have some fun first!" She jumped up, touching the ceiling with ease, "Look at this! I've never been this tall before!”
Jake shook his head, his long, wavy hair brushing against his shoulders. "Olivia, please. This is really disorienting. I don't feel right in this body.”
Olivia crossed her arms, a gesture that looked oddly intimidating in Jake's muscular frame. "Nuh-uh. You always get to be the big, strong babysitter. I wanna have some fun in this body first. Besides, you look super cute as me!" She grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Jake sighed, realizing that Olivia was not going to cooperate.
He could feel a sense of unease washing over him, the unfamiliarity of his new form making him uncomfortable. He looked down at the ring on his finger, wondering if there was a way to force the swap back.
Maybe I should try to take the ring off, Jake thought, grasping at the golden band with his small, slender fingers. However, the ring seemed to be stuck, as if it had been permanently affixed to his finger.
“Ah ah ah,” Olivia said wagging her finger as she saw Jake trying to remove the ring. “Chloe said we only swap back when both people agree which means we have to take the rings off at the same time. And I don’t want to swap back yet,” she said defiantly.
Jake realized that the best chance he had of getting things back to normal was to play along, at least for a little bit. He let out a surrendered sigh as he looked up as his former body towering over him. “Ok fine,” he said. “So what do we do now?”
