“I have an idea,” Olivia said clasping her hands together, “Follow me,” she reached down and grabbed Jake’s tiny hand, pulling him down the hall.
“Ouch, you’re squeezing me too tight,” Jake complains as his tiny legs struggled to keep up.
“Ooops, sorry” Olivia giggled, “I’m not used to how strong I am.”
Soon they arrived at Olivia’s playroom, it was quite messy with dolls and toys strewn about the floor. “Mommy said I have to clean up my playroom before bed, so now you’re going to do it for me!” Olivia grinned.
Jake was about to protest but then remembered that Olivia seemingly held all the cards right now, best to stay on her good side. “Ok Olivia, I’ll clean up your playroom, but then can we swap back?” He pleaded.
“Not yet,” Olivia said, “I have another thing I want you to help with. You stay here and I’ll be right back.” She said disappearing into the hall. She took a few steps and then poked her head back in, “Oh, and don’t call me Olivia anymore, while we’re in these bodies I’m Jake and you’re Olivia.”
“Ok…Jake,” he said reluctantly.
“That’s better, Olivia!” Olivia said as she took off giggling down the hall.
Jake got to work, picking up toys and putting them away. He was bugged that his tiny hands couldn’t carry more things at once and was still getting used to his new smaller perspective. As he was cleaning, a mirror on the wall caught his eye. He hestiantly padded over to it, realizing he hadn’t fully seen his new body since the swap.
Jake stood in front of the mirror, his reflection staring back at him with wide, curious eyes. He took a moment to absorb the details of his new form, noting the subtle nuances that made Olivia uniquely herself.
His—or rather, Olivia's—hair was a cascade of golden waves, falling just past her shoulders, with a slight curl at the ends. Her eyes were a bright, sparkling blue, framed by long, dark lashes. Her skin was fair and smooth, with a light dusting of freckles across her nose and cheeks. He once again saw the pink t-shirt with a sparkly unicorn on the front, paired with denim shorts that had frayed edges.
Jake raised his hands, watching as the small, slender fingers moved in sync with his thoughts. He touched his face, feeling the softness of his skin. It was a strange sensation, like touching someone else's face, yet feeling it as his own.
This is so weird, Jake thought, his reflection mimicking his expressions. He stuck his tongue out, watching as the girl in the mirror did the same. He couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation, the sound coming out as a soft, melodic giggle.
Just then, "Jake"—Olivia in Jake's body—walked back into the playroom, a wide grin on her face. "Olivia, look what I found!" she exclaimed, holding up a large storage bin labeled “Halloween Costumes”
Jake raised an eyebrow, his reflection mirroring his skepticism. "What do you want me to do with that?" he asked, already dreading the answer.
Olivia grinned even wider, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Halloween is only a few weeks away and you’re going to help me choose a costume!”
