Your first theft was more of lark than anything else.
You were at a party for the local nobility and well-to-do of Diyop. It seemed half the women there believed Urgai males were oversexed and would ravish a human woman, if given an opportunity. A large percentage of these same women wanted to give you an opportunity to prove them right. It never seemed to occur to any of them that even the thought of mating with a non-Urgai female was abhorrent to you.
You had just listened to another human remarking how surprisingly well spoken you were, and what a credit to your race you were, when you spotted it. It was a small, exquisite statue sculpted from black marble.
You didn’t want the statue per se. You just thought how pleasant it would be if the owners of the statue didn’t have it.
You didn’t steal it that night. But the next few times you were at the house, you “scoped” things out. When you did eventually steal it, the robbery went off without a problem. You even managed to get suspicion diverted to an earl’s foppish second son.
Thst was your first heist, but not your last. Soon you were a member in good standing with the local thieves’ guild, with the proceeds of your crimes being divested to various enterprises, none of which can be traced back to you.
So are you content at being just a thief, or are you going to pursue a more sinister career?
