A pair of gnolls

There were some who would say the gnoll, an anthropomorphic hyena, was a distant relative to the Lupin.

One wouldn’t say this to a Lupin, of course. Not if one preferred to keep one’s throat from being ripped out.

Packs of gnolls roamed the desert to the south of the Kingdom, eating anything and everything, including carrion. That’s why even a human could smell a gnoll from a quarter of a mile away.

Every fiber in your being wants to fire on the gnolls down below, but you resist the urge. A pair of gnolls might just be a pair of scavengers, looking for an easy meal. Or they might be a probe for a pack of gnolls looking to raid your people’s land.

You watch the pair silently until they turn around and disappear. After half an hour,
