Route 7 is a beginner Pokémon-catching zone, not much tall grass around but enough for some small Pokémons to hide and reveal themselves to wandering trainers. Roy wasn't a trainer but he was wandering. He approached a small batch of tall grass and took a few steps in it. Within a few seconds, a bush rattled nearby, and a small Pokémon jumped and confronted Roy.
It was a Shinx, the small lightning Pokémon. It looked angry and ready for the human to send his Pokémon to start the battle, but the human never sent one, he didn't have any. So the Shinx did the only logical thing, which was to attack the human head-on. It ran towards the human with speed and tackled him. It hurt, but didn't push Roy off his feet. Seeing the human still standing, the Shinx ran to him again, jumped in front of him, and blinded him with a ball of lightning, which also dazed and confused him.
Roy fell on his butt as his eyes hurt like hell. Once his vision came back he saw the Shinx...
