You didn't want to take your eyes off of Ivy, even as the plants in her power swung construction workers around like they were ragdolls and crumpled up bulldozers like they were paper.
But, even among the cheers of the protestors delighting in the chaos, you were starting to feel unsafe here. Not even so much because of the presence of a so-called "super villain," but because of the Wild West shooting of some panicked GCPD officers. The bullets ricocheted off of the construction equipment, even as the plants formed a protective barrier around Ivy. You and several others at the back of the crowd slipped away to go back to your regular day.
At work, you couldn't stop replaying the scene over and over in your head. Especially the part where Ivy looked right at you and gave you that delicious wink, right before shedding her disguise.
You peeked around your cubicle to make sure no one was watching you, then minimized the spreadsheet you were working on and opened up your browser.
After scrolling past the first few search hits that were about the plant instead of the person, you began reading up on Poison Ivy's career. You learned all about how Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley had gone from a preeminent botanist to the world's most feared eco-terrorist. You read of her many crimes and about her many stints at Arkham Asylum.
"I'm not insane!" she had insisted in front of the press once, as she was being taken from the van to the asylum in a straight jacket. "I'm sane, and it's society that's insane. Murdering the trees that provide us oxygen and the plants that provide us nourishment while the planet we live on cooks from carbon emissions is insane! The meatbags destroying their own world are the ones who need therapy."
You couldn't stop staring at her pictures. Her red hair and red lips. Her soft green eyes and proud jaw. You remembered the electricity you'd felt being so close to her in the flesh.
"What are you thinking, Anon?" you said to yourself. "Falling in love at first sight with one of the world's most dangerous criminals?"
