You sit up in bed, heart thudding. Lying here isn’t going to make the decision any easier. The tube is right where you left it, the SAFE pen cold against your palm.

You pull your pajama waistband down just enough to press the injector to the side of your hip. You count in your head. One… two… click.

A small hiss, then a cool rush that spreads under your skin. It’s subtle at first, like a light shiver running through your muscles. You lean back against the wall, waiting for something big to happen, but nothing does. Not really.

Then you notice your breathing feels deeper. Your chest feels… fuller, not bigger exactly, but more awake. It’s like your whole body just went from standby mode to “on.”

You run a hand over your arm. It’s still your arm, still lean, but there’s a strange energy humming just beneath the skin. Your mind keeps flicking back to the way Levi’s forearms looked resting on the counter earlier. The SAFE note wasn’t lying — your body isn’t suddenly huge, but your thoughts are warmer, heavier.

You grab your phone to distract yourself, but every clip, every photo of a guy working out seems sharper, more magnetic. You catch yourself staring longer than you usually would, your hand resting on your thigh without you thinking about it.

The clock says 3:17 a.m. The city outside is quiet, and your apartment feels smaller, more private.
