Chapter #9

I can drive now

    by: Unknown
From the outer edges of her sixteen year body she felt overwhelmed. She had had her car for less than a day did not want to drive over an hour away.
"No. I want to drive around town and show off." Looking at her friends she said "What did you bring me for my birthday? The day is not over." Feeling embarrassed they both said "Lets go to Dave and Busters"
The birthday girl stepped on the gas pedal and headed off down the busy street. "Oh wait! I see the captain of the football team. What is his name?" They both shouted "Ed!" She pulled over to the curb "Hey Ed. Like my ride?" The young man stopped in his tracks. He wrinkled his nose and bent down to look inside the car. "Who is that in there?" This was not the greeting she expected from him. She just two days earlier had given him an answer to a test question. He shook his head saying "Is this your parents car?" The passengers looked at each other and shook their heads, saying "Dave and Busters? Right we are off!. Lets get out of here!" Ed watched them pull away.
Pulling away from the curb a man jumped in front of the car. Dressed in a grey sweat suite he pointed a gun in her face. "Give me the car!" Panic took over the car. The robber cocked the gun and yelled louder "Get out!" He moved his hand on to the door handle. No time to think, she put in gear and floored it. Gun shots flew past the windows. One came into the back window setting off screams of vulgar words.
