Chapter #7

New Job Selling Big Clothes

    by: Theday Author IconMail Icon
While the mall security position might be a great way to keep tabs on Barry you think it would be far out of your league being a slim 17 year old, but your eyes catch an ad for a position at The Big and Tall Store which is attached to the mall where your father and brother shop at. You've spent many hours there as your father shops for new clothes, so you know the lay of the land well. You also know how to fold clothes quite well compared to your brother. You spruce up your resume and send it to the email listed in the ad.
The rest of the evening is pretty uneventful. Your brother is back from college and is looking a bit more scruffy than when he left, not to mention being closer to 300 pounds with a mix of muscle and fat for his football build. He seems to have matured a bit so you hope he doesn't bully you as often as before.
The next morning you're having your cereal while your brother is upstairs asleep and will probably sleep until noon when the phone rings.
You pick up the phone and say," Hello?"
"Hello, is this (Insert Your Name Here)?" comes a familiar woman's voice.
"That's me," you answer with a pleasant tone.
"Wonderful, it's Susan from The Big and Tall Store just phoning you to see if you are interested in the job here," she answers. The name Susan rings a bell and you know she's the manager of the store. She's a 5'4" woman, maybe early 40's, brown hair usually tied back and is such a great sales woman she could probably sell snow to people who live in Siberia during winter.
"Oh, of course," you answer a bit surprised how fast this phone call is happening.
"Looking at the phone number I can assume you're Robert's son, correct," Susan asks.
"That's right," you answer.
"The younger, slimmer one, right," Susan asks politely.
"That's me," you answer wondering how many people know you as your father's younger, slimmer son.
"Well that's all I need to know, you're hired!" Susan announces.
"Oh awesome, when do I start?" you ask.
"Tomorrow, uniform is business casual, I will have a name tag made up for you for tomorrow," Susan says," Swing by at nine and we'll have you selling clothes by ten."
"Sounds good, see you tomorrow," you wish.
"See you tomorrow," Susan says before hanging up.
You feel pretty psyched, you got a job at the mall where you will be able to keep an eye on Barry and earn some money too. You also realize that you'll be able to keep tabs on a lot of big guys who come shopping at the store too, maybe serving as inspiration for your own gains if, or when, you return to Notz and Yeps to buy the Wishing Powder.

Who do you shadow at your first day on the job at the Big and Tall Store?
