Maybe it's just the idea of becoming taller, or maybe it's a side-effect of the machine, but you're overcome by a sense of fearlessness. You start to laugh confidently. Dr. Bane looks confused, but continues to smile like somebody who didn't quite get the joke.
"That's all?" you finally manage to say. "You made me six inches taller? Well whoop-de-doo! And you call yourself a mad scientist? Ha!"
Anger flashes across the mad-man's face, but is quickly replaced by a twisted grin. "Well then, my little experiment, I think we should proceed to stage 2." He presses a button on the remote again. Once more, the blue laser fires, and the energy flows around you. This time the tingling feeling is even stronger this time, as though ants are crawling on your skin. You look over to the right, only to see Bane is running as fast as he can for a door along the side wall.
That's not a good sign.
Your perception starts to shift again, but much faster this time. Your sneaker burst off of your widening feet, their ragged remnants falling to the floor. The waist of your jeans in unbearably tight, until finally the button pops off, flinging itself across the room. The seams alongside your thighs tear with a loud "RRRRIIIIIIPPPPP!!!" as the cuffs pull up around your calves. Your shirt makes a valiant effort to stay in one piece, pulling tauntly against you ever-expanding body, but finally explodes off of you body like The Incredible Hulk.
During this expansion, the restraints have been adjusting themselves to compensate for your enlargening frame. Now they're starting to feel particularly tight, chafing your limbs. A computerized voice from one of the instruments nearby announces, "WARNING: SUBJECT'S MASS HAS EXCEEDED SAFETY TOLERANCES. DEACTIVATING RESTRAINTS." The restraints pop off. What do you do now?
