Dorothea quickly put down her sewing and scuttled to the door of the room. She looked into the entrance hall. There was no-one about, but it sounded like there was uproar in the kitchen.

Jane had joined Dorothea and the other orphans had all stopped sewing.

"We should go and investigate. Someone may be hurt and we could help them out," suggested Jane.

"But it is the perfect opportunity to escape this place. Look the front door is open and no-one is around," replied Dorothea
