Daniel stood his ground as the creature drew ever closer, not wanting to put Isabelle in danger and too exhausted to try and escape. The creature just continued to walk towards them, and with a heart piercing roar it leapt into the air and began to descend upon the two. Daniel would not move from that spot. He raised his dagger ready to strike, and Isabelle stayed behind Daniel with a large stick in one hand and a jagged rock in the other. Both were terrified, but both watched as the creature neared them.
It was maybe a foot from them when the creature unexpectedly fell limp to the ground. Both Daniel and Isabelle were stunned. They looked at each other wondering what happened, then looked at the motionless body of the thing that almost had them for supper. Right away they saw an arrow sticking out of it's heart. Once they realized that someone must have saved them by shooting this creature they heard rustling fom the trees. They looked toward the sounds and out came a figure with a bow and arrows slung over its shoulders. Whoever, whatever it was wearing a long dark blue, almost black, cload and hood, and neither Daniel nor Isabelle could see much more of this figure, and neither laid down their weapons.
After a few moments a voice spoke from beneath the hood. "You have nothing to fear from me. You can lower your weapons, I will not harm you."
"W-w-who are you?" Isabelle stuttered from behind Daniel.
"That doesn't matter. Right now we need to get out of here and to someplace safe before any more of those come," the figure said motioning towards the corpse.
"What do you mean it doesn't matter who you are?" Daniel demanded. "What's with people telling us it doesn't matter who they are? First the old woman, and now you."
"I don't have time to explain. We must go now." With that the figure turned around and walked away.
Daniel and Isabelle just looked at each other. Should they trust this hooded stranger or not?
