Scar sighed wearily, the old lion glaring at his nephew as he scampered about, playfully chasing a butterfly that had gotten the nerve to fly up to Pride Rock.
He scowled inwardly. Damn those hyenas, he thought, I can't trust them to do a single thing right.
Scar wanted to rule the kingdom after his brother's death. But with the birth of Simba, the birthright now passed to the youthful cub.
Leaving Scar forever a prince, seconded forever by his brother and his cub.
He scowled inwardly, turning his attention away from the cub to a small rodent scurrying through the cave. Deciding against his usual taunting speeches to his meals, he decided to just simply eat the damn thing.
He caught the rodent expertly between his paws and flung it upwards, catching it in his mouth with expert ease and swallowing it, savoring the whimpering struggles of the tiny creature as it fell down into his belly.
He chuckled softly. Oh, if only I could dispose of Simba that easily...
But even as the thought occured to him, an idea started to form. ...Maybe I COULD dispose of him that easily!
He looked around, spotting no one, and stared at Simba, still innocently playing with that butterfly.
Certainly, he's small enough, Scar thought, getting hungrier every second he held onto this idea, And it'd be easily to claim that he ran off while I was sleeping off a meal. Mufasa is a gullible fool... But do I dare?
Scar knew full well what Mufasa's wrath was like. A cheetah that had tried to eat Simba a couple weeks ago was shredded by Mufasa in retaliation, the remains served to his lionesses as a gift for their efforts in feeding the pride. It was sheer luck and cowardice-enduced spped the hyenas escaped with their lives.
But still, the chance to be rid of Simba was too great to pass up...
