Hi QPdoll Author Icon

It is my pleasure to read your story, "Monster Race" that was highlighted in your portfolio. Thank you for bidding on my package at "Mad Hatter's Tea Party Open in new Window., and as the winner, here is my 1st review.

*Sun*Reader's Reaction:
This was quite a read about these monsters fighting to gain their momentum to win the race. Winning was worth it because of a week of free time from school and homework. Your words made it an exciting race, and I guess everyone has their cross to bear, such as Lyle was the smallest, Hank seemed to be a bully along with Kitock, Hokcolm etc. No clouds in the sky meant the sun was shinning hot, making thirst for water a problem, too, as they fought for the finish line.

*People* Characters/Dialog: The characters are well defined, each monster wanting to win the race, even if they have to tackle each other to do it. They didn't make much headway doing it this way, but I guess that's what monsters do.

The dialog didn't overwhelm this story, there was more descriptions on what was going on moving the story along. What dialog there was felt natural.

*Tree2* Emotion/Mood/Atmosphere: The emotions was choleric, hot-tempered monsters each thinking they deserved to win, therefore mocking, and purposely fighting to gain access in the race.

The mood is bullying, purposely fighting each other to win.

The atmosphere was chaos, leaving the littlest monster to feel inferior to the larger monsters.

*Lightning2* Plot & Pace: The plot centered around the creatures on Monster Ln celebrating a birthday with a race. Whose birthday, it didn't say, but there was plenty of exciting to make the reader read to the end.

The pace is fast, and I love the way Lyle thought thinks through on how to get ahead in the race.

*Burstv*Structure/setting & Imagery: The structure was well thought out, giving the setting, showing characters in action, the key conflicts
and the event that is being concentrating on in the story.

The imagery is filled with descriptions of fighting monsters, who's ahead, and even showed where they played to have fun. They loved scaring humans.

*Rain* Favorite Lines: The sun was high in the sky and no clouds lingered. It made for a hot race but no one seemed to notice. Monsters on the sidelines cheered for their friends or family member. They were loud and obnoxious, just like monsters should be. But they were going to have to calm down or the other world will hear them.

*Idea* Overall Impression/Conclusion: I found out there's a monster world and a human world, so if and when humans see a monster, they scream.

The conclusion seemed impossible, but even the impossible can happen if you think things through. Good job!
