Been going through these lists, stopped at “quotes from books...” i stopped for 'fuck a duck', very common in Yooper vernacular (Upper Michigan) growing up.
This reminded me of myself or anyone who's on the spectrum, 'I didn’t mean for it to come tumbling out of my mouth the way it had, like some sprawling awkward octopus of a statement that was technically supposed to be a request.'
If it were a baby moose instead of octopus, that could be my formative years…which ended a week ago. Eighteen now. As to tentacled things, slippery and creepy, but visually does give weight to the metaphor. I think of crabgrass as octopi unearthing and multiplying on my lawn.
There’s a lot here. Just wanted to pop in with that. Also note, I try making lists but can never find previous to add next. Pretty much a single or double entry and on to the next. I did do ‘Tweetables’ part one, two, maybe three in blog, during my Twitter obsession. My obsession with quotes comes from the six season run of community. Very hard to read longer stuff with ADHD, unless hyper-focused.
Hope this finds you well, or not on a heap of other emails when you get back,
