| Magenta and Green Life from the heart and a victory garden,in our economic times. |
| I picked this poem because the title interested me. The picture next to the title inferred this poem might be about nature and I enjoy a good nature poem. The poem is one stanza with a rythmes, but no set rythme scheme. The opening sentence eases the reader into what to expect - a journey through nature. As we (the reader) walk through the garden, we discover tomatoes and learn this is a garden that offers food to eat. As the poem progresses we learn the garden is needed in an economy that keeps climbing. In the end it's about balance between the hustle and bustle of urban jungle verus nature. The poem uses a more appealing conversational tone of voice to draw the reader in and leaves the reader thinking about their own balance and how that balance is needed to round out the individual. It's a profound message that will linger once the reader has moved on. I thought the genres selected for the poem, educational, environment, and experience were spot on. My suggestion might be to organize the poem into more formalized stanzas. That might help to set the rhythmic beat of the poem in the reader's mind. Overall, this a solid poem that challenges the reader to find balance. An Angel Army January Anniversary Review
