I'm so glad you entered this poem in the Honoring Our Veterans Challenge for August 2025. I am pretty sure that's where I first saw it. It's a great challenge and tradition here and you have long been a faithful supporter. Thank you so much for your regular entries and support there! I loved your poem so much. It tugged at my heart strings, and even though I served in the Air Force and not the Navy, I could relate to a lot of it. Your poem's message went well with the rondeau form, which you executed so well. I love that form, but do recognize that it's tricky to write well and keep a coherent message. You did it superbly. It flows well and reads like a rhythmic story to me. My favorite line was the "These days, I ride nostalgic waves" line. It made me smile and I thought it was both clever and lovely. I didn't notice any spelling or grammatical mistakes (or mistakes of any kind) in your "Tin Can Navy" poem.
