I loved your poem so much. It tugged at my heart strings, and even though I served in the Air Force and not the Navy, I could relate to a lot of it.
Your poem's message went well with the rondeau form, which you executed so well. I love that form, but do recognize that it's tricky to write well and keep a coherent message. You did it superbly. It flows well and reads like a rhythmic story to me.
My favorite line was the "These days, I ride nostalgic waves" line. It made me smile and I thought it was both clever and lovely.
