| Mary Did You Know An Acrostic poem set to the song, "Mary Did You Know." |
| Greetings, Steph! This is a very elegant, lightly traced poem. I like how it followed the acrostic letters, and it has a sort of haiku feel. In the Bible we read that Mary "stored up these things in her heart," which is a beautiful way of pointing out how she held the precious memories of these miracles and pondered their significance through the years. It would be easy for her to "return to the heart of her youth," as you have gracefully put it. When the rest of Christ's story unfolded, tragic and painful, Mary was there, rooted in that moment of conception and trust and faith, holding on to the miracles she was a part of. I never quite cared for the song Mary Did You Know, because for one thing, it seems all too obvious that yes, of course Mary knows. If she doesn't, who does? I suppose it's a rhetorical question... Also, though I haven't listened or read the lyrics in years, I seem to remember they drew the line to future heartbreak, which felt jarring and unnecessary to me as a child. But I suppose one must bear in mind, spiritually, the ultimate purpose of Christ's miraculous birth. I appreciated reading this quiet, peaceful poem. I like how you tagged the video at top for us to watch if we like. I'm fussy, and for whatever reason Pentatonix never quite "clicked" with me. Font size and styling is clear and easy to read, three relevant genres are selected, and overall this is an excellent poem inspired by and built on the song. Take care, thanks for sharing, and keep writing
