 | More Fun Together
Meeting people on the internet can feel detached. Chatting with acquaintances on the newsfeed or sending a review is neat, but there can still be a distance that feels as if it can't ever be overcome.

Believe it or not, taking part in writing activities and entering contests makes that rift a lot smaller and can even make it disappear entirely.

Whether locked in a (writing) battle with a fellow contestant or working together toward a shared goal, doing things together bridges cultures and continents.

Just recently, we celebrated Writing.Com's 25th anniversary of existence. During the week long celebration, I took part in several activities. Writing alongside others, getting comments, laughs, comradery, and commiseration felt much more like going to camp with a bunch of friends from all around the world than just typing away at a screen.

The magic of the birthday week can't be replicated. Except every year from September 1 through September 7. However, we are free to keep going. We can find those contests that get us to reach higher, become better writers, and create whole new ecosystems of mutual support through friendly competition and encouragement.

Just this morning, I saw an announcement that a contest only had four entries. For a whole month long contest!
It doesn't matter if you win or lose when you take part in a contest. What matters is that you tried. That you showed up. That others could rely on your participation.
So, go ahead. Check out the list below or go to "Writing Contests @ Writing.Com"
and "Activities @ Writing.Com" to find more things that you can do side by side with writing friends new and old.

How many contests and activities can you participate in until the end of the year?
