This newsletter is going to look at different types of romantic heroes. Believe it or not, it was Carl Jung who came up with the concept of archetypes. He said they were unconscious predispositions or tendencies shared among humans and they weren’t fixed, but rather dynamic patterns of human nature that you could find in myths, dreams, literature and art. I know – pretty wordy. Here, I’ll take a look at some tendencies of our romantic heroes – what they share – and what they don’t – but what makes them romantic heroes all the same.
 Enjoy this poll:

Results will be shared in my next Romance/Love newsletter in November.

 | Heroes come in all different shapes, sizes and types. Let’s take a look at the different types of romantic heroes we find in literature and on the screen.
The Chief – our chief is a born leader. He’s tough and decisive and knows what he wants. He can be a bit overbearing at times, but when he makes his decision, that’s it. He hates to admit he’s wrong, so when he is, he can get mad. Our chief likes a strong, confident woman who embraces her femininity, can show warmth, but knows what she wants.

The Bad Boy – he’s our rebel who comes from the wrong side of the tracks. He’s a crushed idealist, charismatic, and street smart. He’s used to getting out of tight spots. Our bad boy looks for woman who are confident, independent, a little rebellious themselves and are willing to be a little different.

The Best Friend – He’s kind, responsible and Mr. Nice Guy. He doesn’t like confrontation, but he’ll be there for you. This hero is practical and down to earth. Our nice guy likes his women to be just as nice, kind and responsible as he is.

The Charmer – he’s our playboy. He’s a tad bit of a rogue, a fun guy, but he’s terribly afraid of commitments. With him, his woman might start off as a casual date, and through her confidence, independence, and own sense of charm, will she win him over to a more exclusive relationship.

The Lost Soul – he’s brooding and secretive, but also a shade vulnerable. He tends to be creative, but he has no sense of roots or belonging. Women tend to find his prickly behavior intriguing – he’s like a tough nut to crack – and he appreciates a woman who is willing to crack his tough nut and win over his moody heart. It may take some time and patience, but love can and will win in the end.

The Professor – he’s a tad introverted and logical, but he’s also honest and faithful. He likes a woman who is smart and confident, with emotional depth and ready to tackle any mystery that they may find themselves in.

The Swashbuckler – he’s our action/adventure hero. He’s a daredevil. He likes a woman with a hint of mystery but who also is confident in herself and her abilities. He’s a rescuer so the challenge is finding the right balance with his romantic love interest.

The Warrior – he’s our knight in shining armor. He’s noble and fearless and always comes to the rescue. He longs for a woman who compliments his strength and provides a sense of balance. He’s a protector. She’s a nurturer.
