About This Newsletter

For this Action and Adventure newsletter, I am a guest editor, and we'll talk about how adventures can come in more than only big sizes but can take place on a smaller level. The micro adventures of trying that something new in your life, of embarking on a new direction is adventure.
Life brings adventure in all shapes and sizes. We're going to talk about living a life that you can enjoy and that has action.

Letter from the editor

For this issue of Action and Adventure newsletter, I am here again as a guest editor and what fun I've had with ideas for this newsletter. This time, I thought we could talk about how micro adventures in your life, can bring about big change.
Well, without further ado, let's get into this edition and hope you like it:

The Myth of the Grand Adventure

We’ve been conditioned to think that adventure has to be big. That it has to involve plane tickets, danger, or at the very least, a dramatic soundtrack. But the truth? Some of the most meaningful adventures don’t come with a travel itinerary. They come with a decision. To try. To begin. To say yes.
Adventure isn’t always about where you go. Sometimes, it’s about what you dare to do right where you are.

The Tuesday Test

Here’s a fun little challenge: the next time you’re staring down a regular ol’ Tuesday, ask yourself, “What would make today feel like an adventure?”
Maybe it’s trying a new recipe that uses that weird spice you bought on a whim. Maybe it’s finally signing up for that pottery class you’ve been eyeing. Maybe it’s calling that friend you’ve been meaning to reconnect with for months. Or maybe it’s something bigger—like applying for a job that scares you a little (or a lot), or starting that novel that’s been whispering to you from the back of your mind.
Whatever it is, it starts with a spark. A flicker of curiosity. A willingness to step into the unknown.

Action Is the Secret Ingredient

Here’s the thing: adventure doesn’t happen without action. You can dream about it, plan for it, even talk about it over coffee—but until you take that first step, it’s just a really nice idea.
Action is what turns “someday” into “today.” It’s what transforms a passing thought into a lived experience. And yes, it’s often messy, awkward, and full of moments where you wonder what on earth you were thinking. But it’s also where the magic lives.
Because when you take action, you’re not just doing something new—you’re becoming someone new. Someone braver. Bolder. More alive.

The Adventure of Becoming

Let’s be honest: learning how to repair a car part or conjugate French verbs might not sound like the stuff of epic tales. But when you zoom out, these small acts of courage add up to something extraordinary.
They’re proof that you’re still growing. Still curious. Still willing to be a beginner.
And that’s the real adventure, isn’t it? Not just doing new things but becoming a new version of yourself in the process.

Your Adventure Awaits

So, here’s your invitation: this week, choose one small adventure. Just one.
Maybe it’s waking up an hour earlier to write. Maybe it’s walking a new route home. Maybe it’s saying yes to something you’d normally decline. Or no to something that drains you.
Whatever it is, let it be yours. Let it stretch you. Let it surprise you.
And when you’re done, take a moment to look back and say, “I’m so glad I did.”
Because that’s the thing about adventure—it doesn’t always announce itself with fanfare. Sometimes, it just shows up in your inbox, disguised as a newsletter, whispering, “Go on. Try it.”
