About the unfortunate fate of Mr.Barnaby the Toad.

There once upon a drooping limb
within the marshes dark and dim
a solitary figure, bold,
Mr. Barnaby the Toad

He wasn't a very sightly fellow,
crooked eyes and warts of yellow,
fattened belly, stiffened feet,
dribbled badly when he would eat

He could not stand up straight for long
he tried it once, but felt all wrong,
so he sat and sat all day
sat and sat and sat away

until there came a chance mishap
the limb he sat upon did snap
he felt it give, then felt it heave,
but wasn't fast enough to leave

no crying yelp could have saved
his plummet down to the grave
the marshlands heard a giant thud
as their noble hit the mud

and now there is a story made
that passes through the everglade
of one who sat and wasted fat
now Mr.Barnaby the Flat!
