Christmas is over. The presents dispersed,
stuffed in the closet - the best with the worst.
The wreathās no longer hanging on the door.
Even the needles are swept from the floor.
Christmas is over, the treeās taken down.
My cheerful greeting's now met with a frown.
Radiance that recalled Bethlehemās light
now packed in the basement far from eyesight.
Christmas is over, the eggnog is gone.
No Santaās reindeer sit out on the lawn.
No sugarplum fairies dance in my head.
Theyāre stored with the angel under the bed.
Christmas is over. It doesnāt seem fair.
Itās too short a season to show that we care.
Why canāt it last throughout the whole year?
No less than the Bible says ābe of good cheer!ā
Iām gonna write Santa; hereās what Iāll say:
Make every day Christmas ⦠but not on Tax Day!
