This has been heavily edited. It was originally an incredibly cryptic poem wherein the first letter of each word was put with the next to create an actual haiku within the greater poem. I thought myself to be terribly clever at the time, but feedback and personal review reflect that it was just complex for hubris' sake. The original is below, for posterity.
Weeks end
Silently; hauntingly, Alzheimer’s, rheumatism enter
These humbling evenings,
Leaving a sad tale:
Doctors and your senility.
Endlessness, relentless, encroaches.
Soon, under noon sun, even the
Afterlife nods defiantly
Heaven Ever After, violating every natural survival
Habit. All lost. Lives shorten
Toward end and rip
Us slowly
Apart. Sitting under nodding dogwoods: epitaphs, reminders...
