Prompt:

Fingers of purple and pink spread,
Dance across waves by the shore,
The world softens, under soft, golden glow,
And birds take to flight like they know-
our purpose, and it fills them with dread.

I survey the section ahead,
Knowing we're soon to begin,
Let my eyes drift past lines, nets and things,
Evidence of man's greatest sins-
that trap, and maim, and kill-
'til, these creatures' lifeblood is bled.

But today, for one day, we can try,
To remember what we should do,
For one day, check our hubris is paused,
And debride this wound-
that we caused.

But-
at the end of the day, we will see,
These bags full of litter we gleaned,
A beach, golden and clean-
for one day, just one day-
it would seem,
A cure's a believable dream.
