My brothers and sisters, here is an essay of introspection. Hope you like it. Thanks. |
| Namaste, My Brothers and Sisters, May God bless you and your loved ones with joy. The path we select to move towards our chosen destination in life is, in my humble opinion, superior to the destination itself. That is the central theme of our essay. Let us start. I. The Path: Dynamism Personified Tell me what image immediately springs to your mind the moment you hear the word 'path'. I'm sure it will be the picture of a road stretching to the horizon, giving the sense of continuous advancement. Thus, the path is dynamism personified. It encourages us to make sustained progress in our chosen field. This also allows us to discover the sobering truth that our fellow human beings are our co-passengers on the path of life and not our competitors. Such a compassionate outlook then goes a long way in creating a compassionate society. II. The Destination: Inertia Personified On the other hand, the moment we hear the word 'destination', it conveys a different image altogether. It conveys the picture of our goal already fulfilled - it conveys the message that we need not move any further. In a nutshell, it conveys the sense of something static. And when we decide to lead our day-to-day life by only looking toward our destination, we risk missing the beauty of most of the passing scenarios of life. Even more tragically, this shortsighted state of mind makes us view our fellow human beings as competitors. It naturally breeds ill will towards them. This mindscape is the exact mirror of our 21st-century society, marked by a sea of negativity surging all around. III. An Earnest Appeal Each of you is meant to shine in the light of your divine potential. So, instead of hankering after the pot of gold, start following the path itself. That path is made of the passion that burns in your heart. Follow this path. Do it for the sake of bringing out the best within you. Do it as a means of offering homage to God. Moreover, as you choose to keep walking the path, the destination will automatically draw nearer. The example of George Bernard Shaw (the renowned Irish playwright) comes to mind, who kept writing five pages every day, come what may. He did it for many years together in the formative period of his career. And look at the destinations he reached later on - a Nobel and an Oscar, both! So, choose the path over the destination. It is the best way to live a meaningful life, as borne out by these memorable words: "There is no path to Happiness. Happiness is the path. There is no path to Love. Love is the path. There is no path to Peace. Peace is the path." - Dan Millman. No more dithering - start right now. With Prayers for Your Fulfilled Life, The Uplifting Essayist |
