If you have ever been in a storm, hurricane, or earthquake, you know the fear that is in your heart, and can truly imagine the fear in the hearts of others.

Your journey through this life should stir a certain amount of fear in yourself and others as you carve out your path.

The storm does not ask which way it should go. It just turns up the winds, rain, lightning, and thunder and keeps moving forward along its path. Those in its path see and feel the results.

The all-powerful hurricane, acting in a similar fashion, whirls and whirls, seeming static at times, and stands in one place until it comes into its own. Then, without much warning, it moves fast sometimes and slowly at others, but once it is complete, it tears a path in whatever direction it has chosen, leaving an everlasting memory on those who find their way in its path.

Then there is the earthquake. It trembles, shakes, and makes known its intent deep within the earth, and without a fine how-do-you-do, it cracks open the earth and leaves in its wake untold devastation. It shakes houses, tall buildings, and rattles the most stable and well-built monuments.

None of these may be viewed as success to any of us, but to all, they demonstrate will and determination. Powerful and merciless. Ruthless and destructive, and so much more. Yet, having been created for their purpose, they do exactly what they were formed and intended to do, and yes, by any standard, they are successful in their purpose.

Some of us are storms, hurricanes, and earthquakes as we move to fulfill our destinations and purpose. Be true to yourself, and carry out the purpose for which you were created.

Measure where you are along your journey. Hard rains have come before a major storm. Some storms have turned into hurricanes, and there have often been tiny rumblings of an earthquake long before a tragic one occurs. All of these things happen, and can be seen in our lives, but they are only signs of us growing and becoming who we are meant to be.

No apologies. No hard feelings, and no perfection as you climb your life's success path, for there is no road map, no guarantees that you will succeed, but always hope, promise, and purpose.
