When looking back shows the seeds price of value, and looking forward fills the debtpeace

Yesterday
I sought confirmation
That the remainder of my life
Has value.
I am 70
And alone
But for my dear cat.

I was included in the reply
Loop from
My caretakers,
My earthly guardians.

I sought recognition
For the value of my life:
Past
Present
And my remaining future..

Their reply lacked warmth
Or recognition
Of
My human value.

I exist at the pleasure
And of the pleasure
Of the
Pharmaceutical industry.

I feel spent
And empty.

I love my cat.
He is my companion.
We share to fill
Our living needs.

We share the warmth
Of touch
And in each language
The sounds of peace.

Save your pity for those
It can save.

I love my cat
He asks for so little
But gives so much

Today
That is how
I measure
The value
Of humanity.
