Gifting Against the Season

Sunni went through her rock collection and chose her favorite stone. She sanded it smooth as silk and carefully waxed it. In her best printing, she wrote a letter . She decorated the edges of the paper and the envelope with stickers and glitter. Then she stuck the flat rock inside and sealed it shut with tape.
Satisfied, she went to her window. With some difficulty, she held the missive outside until a North Wind gust wrenched it from her hand and sent it on its way.
“I hope Santa likes his gift. He never gets any and he gives so many to all the children every Christmas,” Sunni told herself.
When Bernard picked up Santa’s personal mail at his private box in the North Pole Post Office, he was surprised to see the taped-up packet. With a grin, he carried it directly to Big Red’s office and left it on his desk.
“Here’s a puzzle for the Big Guy to unravel, I know how relaxing he finds them.”
When Santa returned to his office to pick up a list amendment and saw the packet, he sat down and stared at it. With care, he scanned it for explosives and other not so nice things. When it seemed fine, he took his gold scissors and cut the pack open.
“How beautiful!” he hoho-ed. “I must have the jewelers put it in a ring for me, since it is my birthstone.”
When he saw the letter, he was even more impressed by its beauty.
“Sunni is so creative, she deserves something special this Christmas and I know just the thing.”
When Sunni woke on Christmas morning, she was surprised to get two gifts from Santa. One was an electric rock polishing machine and the other a sticker maker.
