Temperance is such a sympathetic character. I really liked her humanness. She's smart as a whip, and gets herself deep into things she really has no business being a part of. I think that's what makes her so likeable.

That I started mid-series! It won't take away starting back at book one, but I like things in order. :)

I learned a lot during the reading of this book. About Canada. About leprosy. About detecting linguistics in writing samples. All fascinating stuff.

Start at Book 1! If this book is anything to go by, the entire series will be a fantastic read.
