A Journal to impart knowledge and facts

July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi! I just read these words, and I just can't write about them. the word deadly scares me, my parrots do have a wing on either side, my brother was in the navy, I dislike cruelty in any form, guard your thoughts, It will be evening soon and I can't think of a thing to write, I bought two new pair of slacks which will be fun to wear a new costume to shop in, my kitchen is tidy today so, I won't quarrel with my habits.

I'll think of something to write later. *ButterflyO* bye.

Do you go to Christmas in July sales? Craft fairs? Watch Christmas in July movies?

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! HI.

I don't presently spend a lot of money. I did attend some July 4 sales to buy some clothing. I have not spent money on clothing for several years, so my wardrobe is suffering. If I'm going to spend money it will probably be on sales. At one time I appreciated Christmas in July sales, because I like to buy Christmas presents early.

Anyway, the explanation of Christmas in July that I heard lately sounds like fun.

Merry Christmas.

Prompt: A Pew Research study reported that extended family households are the most common type of households worldwide, with 38% of people living with extended family. Nearly half of people in the Asia-Pacific area live with extended family, while only 11% of North Americans do.
How do you feel about living with your extended family members yay or any? Are there advantages in doing so? And what potential disadvantages?

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi.

Asia-Pacific families have a different type of lifestyle. North Americans seem to have left this kind of family arrangement behind. Except I think some time ago maybe about 10 years ago some parts of the country had trouble with younger generation who did not get an education and could not find jobs that paid enough to start homes and families. Also, commitment to solid marriage became less of a reality. More children moved back home with parents as a monetary need to get help raising children or making end meet with income.

Personally, I like it when there are more family members around. Most of the grandchildren I have are well insulated by their parents. As young children I baby sitted a lot, but then when school age hit children became involved in school activities that required them to spend more time in their own homes.

Now/ I baby sit my children's dogs' when they go on vacation with or without their offspring. Which I like to do. My children's dogs are kind creatures and are used to popping in to see Grandma now and then for a week or a weekend. The grandchildren I know about, are grown and have their own homes or do not live near enough to me to spend time here.

I think the Asia-Pacific lifestyle has some positive aspects as elderly people can give advice from experience gained from life.

I remember as a child and into my early 20's spending time with my grandmother and an aunt and uncle which gave me some special knowledge to use in my life as an adult.

Let July be July. Let August be August. And let yourself just be even in the uncertainty. You don't have to fix everything. You don't have to solve everything. And you can still find peace and grow in the wild of changing things.”~ Morgan Harper Nichols

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi.

I have a lot of peace. Just also have a lot of things to fix. And, I don't mind fixing the ones I can fix. I have lots to do before winter hits. Lots of getting it done pleases me, because down the road of time I will be able to just read again. July is July so, I am starting it new. Happy 4th of July to those who celebrate it.
