Fibro fog, pain, writing sandwiched in between. Quotes. Sermon notes. Encouragement. |
A Texas Sunrise![]() A friend, William Taylor, took this picture. He visits Surfside Beach with his dogs almost every morning, watching the sun rise while the dogs prance about at the water's edge. This is only about ten miles from where I lived in Lake Jackson, Texas. Sadly, I only visited this beach about four times in the six years I lived nearby. Each day is a challenge. A challenge to get by without thinking about the fibromyalgia pains. A challenge to stay awake when chronic fatigure wants to take over. And a challenge to navigate through fibro fog. I haven't been writing as much as in the past. For years, I wrote at least 500 words a day. Now, I'm lucky if I write 500 words in month. Sigh. For more information about what my day (or life) is all about with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic pains, IBS, depression and everything else thrown in, check this out:

TMZ reports that Hulk Hogan, born Terry Bollea, age 71, has died. Terry was one celebrity who my son and I met when Derek was just a toddler. My mom introduced us. She spoke with him often in her first job in Florida after she and dad retired and moved there. She worked in the gift shop at Orange Blossom Groves, and Hulk Hogan was a regular customer. Mom took a picture of my son and the wrestler. We had that photo enlarged to poster size and Derek took it to "show and tell" at his preschool. Of course, he still has it. A few years later, we moved to Belleair, Florida, where Terry and his family had a 17k sq ft mansion. It was fun living in the same bedroom community as Hulk Hogan. We saw him at the gas station and grocery shopping. (Our town only had 4k residents and Hulk Hogan was the most famous at that time.) Terry was kind to everyone when they bothered him as he went about his errands. He always wore his "Christian Athlete" hat, back when athletes in high school, college and professional sports were proud to remind people that they were Christian. Does that organization even exist today? If it does, you don't hear much about it. This death hit me harder than most celebrity deaths, not just because I knew him years ago, but because he was 2 years younger than me. |
