Interesting use of the required words.

I agree that solitude isn't just for females. I see setting is important for both of us. This evening before the sun set, there were 6 cactus wrens playing in the birdbaths happily chattering and 2 hummingbirds buzzing around. It was so relaxing watching them.

I need solitude. I need connection.

In Montana I live alone. Too much ALONE. I am sitting at the Senior Center after lunch, after having connected; but, I need connection to everyday people of all ages and this is not enough.

When I travel I usually stay in hostels for the connection. If I need solitude I take a walk. Alleyways, parks, gardens... anything.

Basically, I can find both or tolerate either for a short period of time. A cruise would probably be too much. A cabin in the woods, too little.

To the writer about the Titanic. I think that your observation of things that impresses you was right on. Of all the people who got passage on that ship, they became similar in that they all died. That was sad. But then there were heroes who gave up their places to unfortunate ones to go on in life and touching other parts of history.
I wonder if I would give up my place. I will never know. I also have a newspaper clipping of the 4 chaplains who gave their life jackets to a military man when a ship was sunk during a war. These men were of different religions but showed their feelings and love of God by this act. Not too many people know of that.
There are probably mention of other acts of courage and sacrifice that will never be mentioned. I just know that people do strange and unexpected things when the time comes. The Titanic might be considered one of those.

Don't like the Titanic. Have an irrational dislike because it was described as an unsinkable ship and sunk on its' first voyage. Upset by the amount of people who died on an unsinkable vessel. Told you it was irrational dislike.

I remember how sad I felt seeing the quarters for the less fortunate versus the wealthy in the movie because like you reading about it didn't impact me. I don't think the history books really paint the picture as vividly as they should.
I agree with you about human arrogance, nothing is invincible.

It's good to see you blogging again.

Like your friend, I'm very concerned about human rights, finances, healthcare and my grandchildren's future. I'm not getting around enough yet with the knee, but I am bombarding my representatives with phone calls, and letters.
I hope to be at the next protest on April 19th. (I had knee replacement)

Classic Hollywood & River Cruises

Prompt: What Hollywood classic movie remake would you like to have the leading role in?

I realize sadly that I need to see more classic movies...I'm not sure I've ever watched The African Queen or Gone with the Wind all the way through. I feel like my choices are limited to Hitchcock films and old Hollywood musicals, maybe that is not entirely a bad thing?

I think my first choice would have to be the Wizard of Oz. It is such a beloved film and Dorothy is one of those iconic characters that every girl wants to be at some point in their childhood. Even though part of me says remaking the original is something akin to sacrilege, I'd love to see how today's advances in movie-making could make this film so epic! Of course, who wouldn't want to be the plucky, young heroine? However I would have to give serious consideration to being the Witch. She's got a legion of flying monkeys at her disposal for one and I can imagine her updated version would be even more badass. Who wouldn't love the chance to play a big, bad villain once?

You've just been given a new job, you're a destination adviser aka travel agent. Where would you recommend we travel to and why? What do you think we should do that will be useful in our writing later down the road.

Hands down...I'd recommend a European Viking River Cruise. Think about all the inspiration you can find hiding among the banks of the Rhine or the Danube, taking in the medieval castle ruins and exploring old world cities like Prague and Budapest? Budapest! Just the name of that city alone sets my creative juices a-boiling with promise! Of course, I would have to work for an exclusive travel company because those trips are ridiculously expensive sadly.

Dealing with Stress

30 Day Blogging Challenge
PROMPT January 16th
I have a stressful day at work today ... What strategies do you use to manage stress in your life?{/}

I've spent nearly twenty years in a demanding industry and have grown accustomed to stress to a degree. There are days though when it peaks, like the end of the fiscal year or around the holidays or during show season. The best way I cope at work is my Spotify playlists. Having the ability to have music playing really helps me stay focused and centered. I find I like a general acoustic vibe for background music most days and then when the pressure starts, I will usually switch over to something more edgy. My coworkers have learned if they walk by my office and hear Saliva or the Pretty Reckless playing...they should steer clear.

At home, my stress management doesn't change much even though my stressors tend to be very different. I still use music to soothe and keep me moving forward. I also like just taking a moment to sit on the back deck or in the sitting room and sip a hot coffee. Sometimes I take the time to write about it, especially if the stress is the kind that is elevated by thinking about and processing the problem. Keeping busy also does wonders for shifting my focus away from stress...there is always laundry and floors to clean, cabinets to rearrange...no shortage of household chores to take one's mind off stress.
