I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" ![]() "The Heat Dome Is Dreadful." ![]() The past 30 hours or so have been an intense challenge for me, due to the local heat I've had to navigate. At its worst, this past day, the Weather Channel app showed 99 degrees F with a heat index of 114F. I had a couple of places to drive to, and three or four places that required some walking. That would not be too tough if my truck had AC, but my poor truck is well over 20 years old and can't keep a charge. So, I drive with both windows open. Doable on the highway, but tough in town, especially sitting at a long traffic light. This explanation is intended as an apology for not adding to the conversation I started last night on a different book/blog post, but I have needed to rest and recover early this evening from the heat I endured midday. I'm right now catching up on my writing, during the midnight hour, because the temperature outside has taken the edge off, and the home AC, and my body are not having to work as hard. This poem is an exercise in processing the events of the day, and is a fulfillment of the challenge by
May the Lord be pleased to give us relief in the form of rain soon, stopping short of flooding conditions, that so many precious souls have had to endure in these United States, during this month of July 2025. Blessings, All! ![]() |

I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" ![]() "Looking Up" ![]() As a youth, I remember the repeated encouragement, "Chin up" or "Look up, things are bound to get better." I don't know. Maybe I have one of those faces that looks depressed when I'm merely concentrating. Looking Up is a great activity for the writer of Hebrews said, โNot forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25, KJV) You read my words exhorting us all to be ready for The Lord Jesus is coming back soon to receive His own. I've been here 9 years, saying it most of the time as I recall. Yet, some may say, โ...Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.โ (II Peter 3:4, KJV) Such words are all the more proof of His Soon Coming. Will we all be ready when He arrives? Blessings, All! ![]() |

I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" ![]() "The Greatness of His Care" ![]() It was a good day to travel home from our vacation in North Carolina. The sun shone brightly. Obstacles were few. The Lord carried us in His Hands. My eyes were opened to His many moments of care. 1. I forgot to check the gas gauge until the low fuel light caught my eye. We were on the interstate, and the next exit with two gas stations was only three miles away. Filled up and got home without incident. The Greatness of His Care. 2. The heat dome made air conditioning absolutely imperative. It worked well the entire trip. 3. Food, coffee, and other physical needs were attended to before the needs became critical. 4. Even the road signs were a blessing. Roads needed for the next part of the trip were found in time. It may seem that all of these things were things any intelligent human being should be able to do by exercising a logical mind. However, the Lord is the one Who created man's mind. He's the First Cause, and all praise belongs to Him. Thank the Lord for a safe trip. Blessings, All! ![]() |
I got lost on a country road at night and saw the steeple of the church with the cross all lot up. God helped me find my way. I was thankful. |

I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" ![]() "Gentle Rain Upon the Earth" ![]() What a lovely little rain shower this afternoon! When it stopped, we became drowsy on the porch. Then a squirrel came along and looked at us from the nearest tree as if to ask, "Hey! Whatcha doing?" A cardinal sat on a limb about 15-20 feet away, giving us a personal concert. The Lord provides all that His children need and keeps them safe under the shadow of His Wings. At the end of my last shift, something struck me as funny, but I have hesitated to post it until now because we have many comedians on Writing.Com, and I didn't want to post something that may have someone else's signature on it because I'm sure I'm not the only person to think of this. It was simply a realization for me last evening. With that caveat emptor in place, here is my story. I work in a grocery store, and someone mentioned needing to purchase "cat litter." That struck me funny. Since the individual was someone I knew, I said, "You know, cat litter and litter of cats aren't the same thing." Response? "Get out of here!" Probably the same thing you're thinking, right now. ![]() |

I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" ![]() ""Mama is Gone."" ![]() My mother-in-law is now with Jesus, and these words were the text that told me so. This is news my wife and I have been expecting because she told her mom many important things on the phone this weekend, since she wasn't able to make the trip to her side. โBut I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.โ (I Thessalonians 4:13, KJV) The Lady in my life has responded to the question, "Are you okay?" with "Yes. Love you." Even though we live in the Blessed Hope of everlasting life because of the Merits of Jesus Christ with the anticipation to see our loved ones again, for now, there is grief. I will be tender with her, giving her time to heal. Speaking little, loving much, that is my near task. Thank you to anyone who prays for us through these days. Blessings, All! ![]() |
