I have this song on my iPod. As I recall, Mr. Lightfoot wrote this song after reading an article about the sinking where the name of the ship was misspelled. He felt that was disrespectful and wrote the song in response. He showed/played it for the families of the crew first and asked permission to release it. And afterwards, if I remember correctly, he donated the royalties to the families.

I'll never forget for two reasons:

Gordon Lightfoot is my all-time favorite singer-songwriter. And ...

My youngest daughter's birthday is 10 November.

She just told me that she always thought the Edmund Fitzgerald was an old sailing ship from the 1800's. She queried her older sister about it and found that older sis thought the same thing. One of my great passions, beside music, is history. I've failed my girls. *Shock*
Such a dramatic, impactful song. I always sing along when it is featured on radio play.

Howdy Howdy all!

I've been doing little more than lurking as of late. My son works 2nd shift sometimes getting off between 1 and 3 am and then my daughter goes in at 6 am. Since I'm the "Uber", my sleep schedule is all wonky. I miss you guys, and the interactions. Lord willing, and the creek doesn't rise, I'll be back to my normal shenanigans. By the way, where did this year go? *FacePalm* *Crazy*

I understand. I just retired in September. I'm still trying to reeducate my body to have an earlier sleep schedule. 2 1/2 years of finishing 2nd shift is really hard on the body.

I understand your schedule. Too many times I was going to bed just before your daughter gets up.

No, I don't have a cold, but cotton season is here and I'm allergic to it. *FacePalm*

Long time, no see y'all. Still no internet for computer. WiFi and tablet. Been making bread, finished the edges of king quilt. Today got some fresh air and vitamin D by mowing back yard. Right now drinking some iced tea and watching YouTube sewing and furniture restoring vids. Here's hoping everyone is having a great weekend.
