Harald I, known as King Harald the Bluetooth, is a distant ancestor of mine (or at least of my clan). He is said to have had an amazing ability to convince differing factions to sit down together, talk, and cooperate with each other.

When Erickson was developing the technology that allows all sorts of devices, from cellphones to medical equipment, to communicate and work together, someone remembered Harald I and his ability to achieve communication and cooperation between arguing factions. So Erickson named the new technology Bluetooth. The familiar Bluetooth emblem is King Harald's initials in one of the Norse languages, though I can't recall which one.

I don't know why, but the instant I saw this top, it minded me of the spinning device near the end of the John Wayne movie Brannigan.
